Next to the bedroom, the dining room is probably our next most favorite place in the house. Yes, because it’s where all the gastronomical actions happen. So for the winner of our next favorite room, it would be pleasing to eat in a well-designed place with all these nice tables and chairs, utensils, and even a chandelier if you wish.

You don’t really need the fanciest, most expensive things to have a lovely dining room. You just need a creative mind and gather design ideas that you can surely accomplish whether you’re on a budget or on a splurging mode. But before you start designing, here are important things you should consider and some tips for decorating.

Why call it a dining room if you don’t have a dining table? Certainly, the dining table is the centerpiece for this room, but before you purchase one, it is important to consider the space you have. Circular tables can fit in more people than rectangular ones. However, it would take much space and would make your room appear smaller especially if you have a small room. So it’s ideal to get a rectangular table instead if you don’t really need more seating space. If you have a really spacious dining room, then there would be no problem with table shape…you can go with round, oval, rectangular, or whatever shape you can think of.

Chandeliers would instantly make a room look more sophisticated. You should however, take into consideration your table size and ceiling height. Make sure it doesn’t hang less than 30 inches from the top of your table.

If you’re dining area is a bit small, you may want to add a mirror. It’s not only an additional beauty to the room, but will make the area appear bigger as well.

If you want an intricately designed dining room, you may want to consider using wallpaper for your walls. Wallpapers don’t necessarily make your room look old. These days there is a wide range of designs you can choose from. Getting the right design will help your room look more elegant.

One of the last things you would think about are children’s tables for your kids’ rooms. Tables are a great fixture in your child’s room. It’s a nice way to define a space that’s especially just for them, and great for teaching all sorts of things.

Whatever style you choose for your children’s table, safety is always a concern, so look for pieces that uses non-toxic materials and employ rounded corners. Take note of the reputation of the manufacturer and make sure their safety standards are enough to withstand your toddler’s active lifestyle.

When choosing a table for the children, choose a low table that’s just right for their size. There are numerous fun designs that will suit every child’s personality and style. You can go for the classic hand-carved heirloom tables and matching chairs that will give your child’s room an old-world feel. Or you can go fun and whimsical with irregularly shaped tables in bright, funky colors.

The table can be your spot to share a storybook or two and have fun story-related activities afterwards. Use the table to do artwork, and some tables already have built-in cubbies for your children’s art and drawing supplies. It’s also a great place to have an afternoon post-playtime snack. Your children can use their table for pretend play tea parties with their favorite toys to encourage their creativity and imagination.

Having a table instills discipline in your child and encourages their communication skills in a friendly setting. You can encourage them to pack away their things and clear the table as an exercise. Having their own space also gives them a sense of ownership and might encourage doing schoolwork. For whatever purpose, a table in the child’s room is a piece that will always have rewards for both you and your little ones.

Choosing tables for a house just for two can be a challenge. There are many factors; available space, size of the furniture and plainly, personal preference. A few creative applications can turn this dilemma into a designing success.

If your apartment has both kitchen and dining area incorporated into a single space, you can maximize this by making use of a kitchen counter table. The space will allow you to save on horizontal area by restricting the surface area to just a few feet and using tall, space-saving tools instead of wide chairs. You can have your meal fresh from the stove. The kitchen counter table also make a nice divider between the main kitchen and the rest of the room.

Another in-kitchen dining solution is to have a small dining nook in a corner. A table for two set against a warm cozy kitchen is the perfect spot to have a quiet meal or share a moment over a cup of coffee.

If the living room has turned into your main eating area because of your lifestyles, you can add a few elements to your coffee table and make it an appropriate dining space. Put utensils in a box or basket with a lid. If your coffee table has drawers or shelves underneath, store your cutlery and tablemats there. You can eat from the sofa or sit down on the floor on comfortable cushions. Dining in the living room doesn’t always have to be about tv trays and plastic dining ware.

If you already have a huge wooden table and find it too big for mealtime, you can use it as a workspace instead. Set up a home office and share the huge desk, either sitting side by side or opposite each other. Mark your work areas with attractive desktop organizers and give each side its own working lamp.

You can adjust your tables in the house according to your space and your needs.

With the many members of the household and all the rooms with its different functions, an addition of an end table can add style and function to a space.

Your children can benefit from an end table as an additional storage space. Choose an end table with additional storage at the bottom to store toys and books. It can also be their school center where they store their school backpacks, books and school supplies so that these things don’t end up all over the room.

For limited spaces, an end table can replace a coffee table. Take two chairs and an end table and make a spot for a conversation inside your tiny apartment. It can also be a phone center and a charging station for your cellphone. Put a notepad and a pen on the surface so people can take messages when somebody calls.

In the guest bathroom, an end table can give the space a welcoming and thoughtful atmosphere. Put toiletries, hand towels and a magazine or two on the surface. If the end table has storage, use it to store bathroom supplies so your guests never run out of tissue paper or hand towels.

In the kitchen, an end table can serve as a recipe center. Store your recipe books in cabinets below and have your recipe box, pens, a book holder to keep a recipe book open to the meal of the moment and blank cards for taking notes.

For your office, use an end table for computer peripherals, such as a printer, a scanner or a fax machine. You can also use it to store extra office supplies and remove that clutter from your main working space.

More than just decorative, an end tables can serve many a purpose in a household. Find one that’s right for you and your needs.

With a lot of homes trying to save on space, it seems unnecessary to put in an additional table in the kitchen. However, a kitchen table may actually increase productivity and kitchen use.

Having a table in the kitchen allows for an extra preparation area aside from the kitchen counters. Preparing the ingredients for a meal on a table offers more space, more comfort while sitting on chairs and also socialization as everyone gathers around to share in the tasks.

A kitchen table also serves as a satellite meal area for those times when it’s just better to grab a plate and a spoon and ladle some food straight from the stove. It can be the place where breakfast is served, the meal deemed to be more laid-back and doesn’t really need to have a whole dining table prepped and set. It can also be a place for a late-night snack or a spot for a cup of coffee.

A kitchen table doesn’t have to be big. It doesn’t have to have space to sit your whole family; seating for two or three people will do. It can even be a tiny nook in an unused corner of the kitchen, a spot that you never knew what to put in. The kitchen table can be any size and shape to adapt to the space and requirements of your kitchen.

The kitchen table becomes a cozy spot for impromptu family gatherings, or for sharing a quiet conversation with your spouse. It can be a spot to entertain a close friend, or a reading and working area while waiting for your cookies to come out of the oven. A kitchen table can turn your kitchen into a warm place to gather and bond.

It’s well documented that good working spaces that have great design and style does wonders to improve a person’s working habits. Instead of decorating your office with the standard utilitarian equipment, considering going a little out of that box and venturing into antique office desks. A grey, fake wood desk will do nothing to inspire your ambition and drive. Instead, opt for tables that use richer materials with excellent features that will not let function fall short.

When choosing the right antique desk for your office, make a list of your needs. Consider factors such as working area, storage options, leg area, material, wood finish, and of course, price.

The advantage of many antique office tables is the large working area. These antique tabletops often are built wide, with more than enough room to house your computer, and extra space to do paperwork on the side. You can even set a desk organizer, a telephone, printer or fax machine. Consider what you absolutely need to be present on your desktop and find an office table that has adequate space for your needs.

Now, consider your storage requirements. Would you need extra cabinets to house files or other office supplies? Find a table that has built in cabinets, or has enough space underneath for an additional file cabinet. There are antique office tables that also have cubbies built into the design for extra storage.

Next, consider the design and price. Choose a desk that has a finish that will complement your existing office decor. Now, most antique office tables cost quite a lot, so you might want to consider purchasing a replica instead. You might get lucky at a yardsale, or a second-hand shop and be able to find an antique table for your office that needs just a bit of work.

Having an antique office table adds class and style to your working environment while meeting all your office needs.

Your entrance hallway could look better with the help of a piece of furniture. Though this is easy to say, those with limited entrance space might think this is impossible. Adding another piece of furniture would just make the space look cluttered and may even pose a safety risk.

To make the addition of a piece of furniture in your entryway successful, you have to reset your thinking away from grand pieces of furniture and try to wrap your head around the idea of a console table. Now, console tables don’t just come in those intricate, imposing design you often see. Console tables also come in compact sizes in every design that will surely suit your home’s style.

The console table is often a place where people make first contact with your home. It’s a place where you leave your keys, a package, or the mail. Because of this function, avoid cluttering up the surface of your console table, keeping the design elements to a minimum. It’s good to maintain just a vase for flowers, and maybe a bowl or two for keys and loose change. To give an illusion of space and also for that last look at your appearance before you head out the door, try hanging a mirror over the console table’s wall space.

To maximize the space taken by the console table, look for a model that also offers extra storage underneath. There are console tables that also have cabinets or shelves underneath. If you want to store stuff that you would rather keep out of sight, go for cabinets with solid doors. For decorative items or things you don’t mind being seen, go for glass cabinet doors or open shelves.

Compact console tables are a great entryway design solution. They add so much to the look of your hallway with so little effort.
