With many kitchens being the center of hustle and bustle in most homes, putting a kitchen table seems out of place, and sometimes downright impractical. With a lot of homes trying to save on space, it seems unnecessary to put in an additional table in the kitchen. However, a kitchen table may actually increase productivity and kitchen use.
Having a table in the kitchen allows for an extra preparation area aside from the kitchen counters. Preparing the ingredients for a meal on a table offers more space, more comfort while sitting on chairs and also socialization as everyone gathers around to share in the tasks.
A kitchen table also serves as a satellite meal area for those times when it’s just better to grab a plate and a spoon and ladle some food straight from the stove. It can be the place where breakfast is served, the meal deemed to be more laid-back and doesn’t really need to have a whole dining table prepped and set. It can also be a place for a late-night snack or a spot for a cup of coffee.
A kitchen table doesn’t have to be big. It doesn’t have to have space to sit your whole family; seating for two or three people will do. It can even be a tiny nook in an unused corner of the kitchen, a spot that you never knew what to put in. The kitchen table can be any size and shape to adapt to the space and requirements of your kitchen.
The kitchen table becomes a cozy spot for impromptu family gatherings, or for sharing a quiet conversation with your spouse. It can be a spot to entertain a close friend, or a reading and working area while waiting for your cookies to come out of the oven. A kitchen table can turn your kitchen into a warm place to gather and bond.
